Gertrude McDermond

G.F. ?Micky? (Gillingham) McDermond, age 66, of Brainerd, died Sunday, August 17, 2003 at her home, on Round Lake. Gertrude Francis O?Leary was born October 29, 1936 in Walker, daughter of George and Margaret (Fuhrman) O?Leary. The family later moved to the Backus area where she attended grade school and later moved to the Mildred area where she attended Pine River High. Micky was active, highly respected and loved with the A.A. Program. She also owned and operated the Pixie Place Daycare on Round Lake from 1991 to 2001.
She will always be loved and sadly missed by all her family and friends including: Her husband, William ?Mac? McDermond, Sr.; 2 sons; Gary Ecker of Pequot Lakes and Duane Ecker of Lake George; daughter, Lynn Adams of Pine River; Step-daughter, Kathy (McDermond) Welsh of Muskegon, Michigan; 4 step-sons, David McDermond of St. Cloud, Bill Jr. McDermond of Sartell, Tom McDermond of Ramsey, and Doug McDermond of Detroit Lakes; several Grand and Great Grandchildren; brother, Orval Calahan of Past Christian, Mississippi; 2 sisters, Irene O?Leary of Osseo and Lilian Bowden of Brooklyn Center. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two husbands, Dean Ecker and Verlin ?Champ? Gillingham; brothers, George Jr. O?Leary and Rolin O?Leary.

A private service for family and friends will be held at her home on Round Lake at a later date. Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter is in charge of arrangements.
