Gerald Schloemer

Gerald "Jerry" Schloemer, 70, Baxter died Saturday 3/16/13 at St Joseph Medical Center. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 AM at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Fr. Tony Wroblewski officiating, burial will be in the Baxter Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 till 7 PM on Monday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and 1 hour prior to the service at church.

Jerry was born March 26, 1942 in St. Cloud son of the late; Albert and Vera (Hess) Schloemer. He entered the US Navy. Following his honorable discharge he was united in marriage to Karen Kosel on May 4, 1968 in St. Joseph, MN. They moved to the Brainerd Lakes Area in 1972 and he worked at 3M in Staples for 28 years. He was a member of St. Francis Church where he served on various committees including the parish council. He was a charter member of the Baxter Lions Club and received numerous awards including the Melvin Jones Award and Helen Keller Award. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and playing cards with his friends. Memorials preferred to Birthright or Lions Club International Foundation.

Jerry Schloemer is survived by his wife, Karen; daughter, Joy (Greg Lewin) Schloemer of Charlotteville, Va; sons, Jon (Mary) Schloemer of Baxter, Joel (Tracy) Schloemer of Plymouth; grandchildren, Taylor, Brenna & Greta Schloemer, Sydney & Elie Lewin; siblings, Mary (Jack) Crane, Bernie (Betty) Schloemer, Sharon (John) Pauly, Barb (Ed Gysler) Woody. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Vera; sister, Judie.
