Gerald Hoefs

Gerald H. Hoefs, age 88, of Pequot Lakes was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 18, 1923 in Pequot Lakes to Gustav and Inga (Dropping) Hoefs. Gerald married Nora Knutson at Maple Hill Lutheran Church. He served in the United States Army. After his honorable discharge, he purchased the family farm and drove school bus for the Pine River School District. He served on the Walden Township Board, the Maple Hill Church Counsel and the Whispering Pines Good Samaritan Advisory Board for many years.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nora of Pequot Lakes; children, Duane (JoAnn) Hoefs of Pequot Lakes, Janet (John) Durham of Pequot Lakes and Marlon (Kathy) Hoefs of Pine River; a sister, Marlys (William) Weiss of Pine River; grandchildren, Chad, Dan, Stacy, Chandra, Curtis, Shari and Joshua; and by seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at Maple Hill Lutheran Church with interment in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River and one hour prior to the service at the church.
