Gerald Benjamin Dezell, of Staples, Minnesota entered into rest Monday, October 5, 2009 in St. Cloud, Minnesota. Services for Gerald will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 8th at Staples United Methodist Church. Friends are welcome to gather Wednesday evening from 6  8 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, Minnesota. Interment will follow services on Thursday at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples

Gerald Benjamin Dezell, 82, was born on January 31, 1927, to Benjamin and Eda (Nelson) Dezell in Staples, Minnesota. On March 10, 1950, he was united in marriage to Ethel Marie Reineke in Clarissa, Minnesota. They were blessed with four sons: Gary (Florance), Cedar Rapids, IA, Craig (Janell), Annandale, Kevin (Jeannie), Staples, and Mike (Gina), Sartell. Gerald was also very proud of his 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Gerald is survived by two sisters: Karen (Fred Huebner), Staples, and LuJean (Mark Ruel), Osseo, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Norma Jean Anderson, and brother Gordon Dezell.

Gerald was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad for nearly 20 years, owned and operated HiWay Lanes bowling alley, and worked as an optician for Benson Optical until his retirement. Gerald then took great pleasure in the many years he served as custodian for the United Methodist Church.

Gerald dearly loved hunting, fishing, trapping, pitching horseshoes, bowling, square-dancing, gardening, and playing cards with family and friends. He was an avid Staples High School sports fan. Submitted by: Brenny Funeral Chapel Staples, Minnesota 218.894.1910
