Gerald "Jerry" Bengtson, 91, of Crosslake, MN passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center Care Center in Crosby, MN. There are no services scheduled at this time.

Gerald was born September 7, 1923 in Milltown, WI to Floyd and Edith (Jensen) Bengtson. He was raised in Minneapolis and graduated from Roosevelt High School. Gerald served in the US Army in Northern India at the end of WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Minneapolis. Gerald was united in marriage to Phyllis Miller on June 26, 1947 in Minneapolis, MN. They lived in Hopkins before moving to Golden Valley where they lived until 1986. Gerald drove semi truck and worked for Interstate Motor Freight making deliveries until his retirement in 1983. They bought property in 1966 and moved to Crosslake in 1986, over the years since purchasing the property they tented, then lived in a mobile home, and eventually built their home there before retiring. Gerald enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening, raising roses, pontoon boating, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Phyllis; children, Cynthis (Len) Munroe of Dowling, Ontario, Canada, Linda Bengtson of Bloomington, MN; grandchildren, Elsie Ebhardt, Derek (Kelly) Nordstrom; great grandchildren, Ryan Ebhardt, Brett Ebhardt, Parker Nordstrom, and Paige Nordstrom; brother, Glen (Pat) Bengtson of Arizona. He is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Edith Bengtson; siblings, Grace Larson and "Lolly" Johnson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
