George L. Turner, 82, of Randall, died Monday, July 27, 2009 at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital in St. Cloud, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 11:00 AM, Friday, July 31, 2009 at St. James Catholic Church in Randall. Friends are welcome to visit at the church beginning at 9 AM Friday morning. Interment will follow services at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley. The family will host a luncheon at the VFW following burial.
George was born July 3, 1927 in Darling Township, MN, the son of Harold L. and Mathilda B. (Helmerick) Turner. After graduating high school, George enlisted in the US Army where he served his country for two years. In 1953, he was united in marriage to Arlene Strack. The couple was blessed with five children. Although he operated a farm, George also worked in sales for 7-UP for 25 years. He raised chickens for Jack Frost and Golden Plump. George also raised Herford Cattle. He served on the Board of Directors for Stearns Electric for 15 years. He enjoyed watching birds and fishing. He loved to eat and deer hunt.

George will be missed by his wife, Arlene; his children, Jesse (Cynda), Deborah (John) LeMieur, Ricky (Carrie) Turner), Dennis (Lisa) Turner, and Carol (Glen) Salber; her grandchildren, Victoria (Jamie) VonderHaar, Christian (Michelle) Turner, Jonathan (Heidi) LeMieur, LacyJane LeMieur, Sara Turner, Luke Turner, Therese Turner, and Rudi Turner; and her great-grandchildren, Eli and Chloe VonderHaar, Emma, Morgan and Audrey Turner, and Avery, Peyton, and Levi LeMieur. She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Rebbecca; and her brother, Herb.
