George O. Hall, age 78, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008, at his home. He was born December 30, 1930 in Etowah, Tennessee to James and Isabell Hall. He married Virginia Moberg on June 5, 1954 in Pequot Lakes.
George served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in Morocco, Africa. During his time in the Navy, he traveled throughout much of the world before retiring in 1974. After retirement, he farmed in the Pequot Lakes area. He served on the Crow Wing County Soil and Water Conservation Committee, Pequot Lakes School Board, and the building committee at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He received a conservation award for planting a vast number of trees.
George was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed his annual deer hunt with his many friends. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather, with a great interest in family geneology.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia; daughter, Cheri Darden of Pequot Lakes; brothers: John Hall of Georgia, Dan Watson of Florida; sisters: Mary Dalton of South Carolina, Maggie Knox of Georgia; grandchildren: Tiffany Darden and Brent Mose. He was preceded in death by his brother, Cleon; half brothers, Charles and Holdy; sister, Ellen Price; and daughter, Cynthia Mose.
Services will be 4 PM on Thursday, July 24 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes, with Rev. Dr. David Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Our Savior's Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
