Genieva Nelson, age 82, of Lakeshore, passed away May 16, 2012, in Kalispell, Montana. She was born July 8, 1928, in Minneapolis to Carl and Paulina Hanson.
Genieva married Kenneth Nelson July 1, 1950, and worked as a secretary at John Deere in Bloomington for 10 years. She also held other secretarial positions in Litchfield, MN, and Aspen, Colorado. Genieva loved to travel and enjoyed oil painting, gardening, collecting gems, baking desserts and entertaining.
She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes.
Genieva is survived by her children: Craig (LaVonne) Nelson of Darwin, MN, Barbara (Tom) Carr of Kalispell, MT, Wendy (David) McCormick of Gillette, WY, Nancy (Greg) Yager of Kalispell, MT; 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; brothers: Robert Hanson (Dorothy), William Hanson; sister, Thelma Vikingson (Virgil); and great grandson, Cole Larson.
Memorials may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Nelson family.
Graveside service will be 11 AM on Tuesday, May 22, at Greenwood Cemetery, Nisswa, followed by lunch at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Pequot Lakes.
