Genevieve "Genny" (Hraban) Woodruff, 93, passed away on May 7, 2015, at the Good Samaritan Society, Pine River, after a long painful illness with family at her side. Genevieve was born on April 28, 1922, in Dwight, Nebraska, to Joseph and Mary (Krenk) Hraban. She graduated from high school in Bee, Nebraska. After graduation, Genevieve came to Hackensack, MN, as a nanny. It was there she met Warren Woodruff and they later married. To that marriage four children were born: Kathy, Shirley, Bonnie and Nancy. Genevieve resided in Hackensack for the rest of her life.
Before she became blind, Genevieve was an avid gardener who loved to be out working in the soil and harvesting what she grew. In later years, her life centered around her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters and three brothers.
Genevieve is survived by her children: Kathy Woodruff, Shirley (Richard) Pederson, Bonnie (Jerry) Brooke, Nancy (Dan) Gilles; her grandchildren, great grand and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1 PM on Tuesday, May 12, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Hackensack. Visitation will be Monday, May 11 from 5 to 7 PM at the church, and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Backus.
