Gaynerd Trahan

March 14, 1924 — April 5, 2001

Gaynerd H. ?Gunner? Trahan, age 77, of Garrison Twp., died at his home on Thursday, April 5, 2001. Memorial services will be held at the Community Alliance Church in Garrison on Saturday, April 7, at 11:00 AM, with Reverend Peter Dorn officiating. The Garrison VFW will provide military honors. Memorial services will also be held in Northfield, on Saturday, April 14. Burial will be in the Red Rose Cemetery of Northfield.
Gaynerd H. ?Gunner? Trahan was born in Marshall, MN, on March 14, 1924, to Phil and Iva (Myers) Trahan. He grew up and attended schools in Marshall. From 1943-45, he served in the US Army in Europe. He married his wife of 52 years, Rosella ?Rosie? Simpson on August 1, 1948, in Northfield, MN. In 1951, the couple moved to Stillwater, MN. They returned to rural Northfield in 1956, where they lived until their retirement in 1986. Gunner worked for the Maple Island Dairy for 35 years, first as a truck driver and later in the warehouse. The couple has lived in rural Garrison since 1987. Gunner enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. Together, he and Rosie fished Mille Lacs for 42 consecutive years. They also enjoyed spending time at their cabin on Stevens Lake in Cass County.

Gaynerd is survived by his wife Rosella; a brother, Bob (Irene) Trahan, of Faribault; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. His parents and a sister, Wanda, preceded him in death.
