Gary James Thomas, 84, of Crosslake, MN died on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 10:30AM at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN. with Father Ryan Morzvitz officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 2:00-4:00PM at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN. Burial will take place in Pinewood Cemetery in Crosslake, MN.

Gary was born on June 19, 1929 in Sioux Falls, SD to Glen and Gladys (Otelle) Thomas. He started working for S. J. Groves and Sons Construction at the age of 14 and was with the company until his retirement at the age of 62. He was united into marriage to Lucille Jones on August 27, 1950 in Morristown, SD. They lived in many states but made their home in Minneapolis, MN. Following his retirement Gary and Lucille moved to Crosslake, MN where he was a resident until his death. Gary's was a member of the Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN. He was a past member of the Elks Club. Gary was a charter member and past president of Association of Construction Equipment Managers or ACEM. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and hunting. Gary loved to do carving and be outdoors.

Gary is survived by his wife, Lucille; children, Robert Jones of Brainerd, MN, Linda (Roger) Perreault of Coon Rapids, MN, and Tim (Kathy) Thomas of Jacksonville, IL; ten grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Family would like memorials to go to Immaculate Heart Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
