Gary Eugene Thomas Dosh, age 58, of Brainerd passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 19, 2008 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24, at 1 pm, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with the Rev. Erika Nilsen from Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Baxter officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday, July 23, from 5-7 pm, at Brenny Funeral Chapel and on Thursday during the hour prior to services. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
Gary was born January 23, 1950 in Staples to Nonie and Katherine (Tautges) Dosh. Following high school graduation in Staples, Gary enlisted in the Army and, folowing his tour of active duty, he proudly served an additional twenty years in the Army Reserve. Gary was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad from 1974-1977. He received his Registered Nursing degree from Central Lakes College, and had worked at Brainerd Regional Human Services Center for more than twenty years. He was currently employed by the Baxter Community Behavioral Health Hospital. For many years Gary was also a game referee for basketball and volleyball, along with being a Bronco and Mustang coach for his son's Brainerd Park and Recs games. His passion for sports expended to the Vikings, the Twins, and Brainerd Warrior football, for which he was a true fan. Gary will be greatly missed for his huge heart, along with the caring and kindness he showed to everyone whose lives he touched.
Gary is survived by Kathi (Foy) Dosh, his loving wife of 18 years; his daughter Alexandra and his son Aaron; his sister Nona (Chuck) Kalisch; nieces and nephews; and many close friends. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Nonie and Katherine Dosh, and a nephew, Ryan Kalisch.
