Gary Deppa

Gary Donald Deppa, 59, of Cushing, passed away December 4, 2010. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorial preferred to Scandia Valley First Responders and Fire Department.

Gary was born May 9, 1951 in Hopkins, MN, the son of Alex and Irene (Chmielewski) Deppa. At an early age, Gary and his family moved to Gilman, MN. After graduating high school, Gary was united in marriage to Debra Dokken in 1969. Gary farmed and worked for Culligan for a few years before moving to Becker in 1986 where he worked in commercial construction. In 2005, the couple purchased Lakeview Store in Scandia Valley. He also worked at Morey Fish Company.

Gary was a member of the Carpenters Local Union # 81. Gary loved his grandchildren, family and friends and cherished the time he was able to spend with them. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. He liked to visit and socialize with people and was always up for a game of cards. Gary will be remembered most for his warm smile and great sense of humor.

He will be missed by his wife, Deb; his children, Stacy (Shawn) Duncan, of Becker and Billye "Jo" Deppa, of Cushing, grandchildren, Christopher, Jackson, and Benjamin; sisters, Judy Arkuszewski; brothers, Ronald Deppa and Duane (Teresa) Deppa; sister-in-law, Alicia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Alex, Jr. (Butch).
