Gary Caswell

Gary F. Caswell, 63, of Brainerd and Elk River, MN, passed away of a heart attack at his lake home on June 4, 2007. Funeral Services for Gary are planned at 3 PM, Thursday, June 7, 2007 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. There will be a visitation prior to services, from 1-3 PM at the funeral chapel.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret; his children, Ty and wife Jill of Zimmerman, MN, Jay and wife Pam of Elk River, MN, and Kelly Henderson and husband, Bret of Cedar Falls, IA; grandchildren Preston, Connor and Bryce Caswell (Ty and Jill), Alex and Becky Caswell (Jay and Pam), and Trevor, Grace and Olivia Henderson (Kelly and Bret). Gary was born, Sept 19, 1943 in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. He was raised by a loving extended family in Minnesota. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Wasp. He married the love of his life, Margaret on August 20th, 1966 at St Marys Catholic Church in Vining, IA. He attended Dunwoody College in Minneapolis and the University of Minnesota. Gary led an accomplished career in land surveying, which culminated in his appointment as Hennepin County Surveyor, until his retirement in 2002. He was a well-known contributor to the advancement of his life-long profession of land surveying. He held many positions in professional associations, including President of the National Association of County Surveyors, and President of the Minnesota Society of Professional Surveyors, and was an ACSM delegate.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his wife and family at their lake home in Brainerd. He loved traveling, golfing, fishing, and entertaining his large network of friends. He will be dearly missed by all.
