Galen Gustafson

Galen W. Gustafson, age 68, of St. Cloud, formerly of Staples, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital. A Memorial service is planned for Thursday, May 24 at 3:00 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples with Fr. Peter Kirchner officiating. There will be a visitation Wednesday evening from 4-6 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the Bridgeman Cemetery. Galen was born in Brainerd on September 17, 1938 to Edgar and Evelyn (Coleman) Gustafson. He grew up on the family farm in May Township and graduated from the Pillager High School. After High School he entered the Army. Galen was a great lover of animals, enjoyed talking about and working on cars, and was a wonderful artist, drawing accurately detailed pictures from memory. Galen is survived by his siblings, June (Eldon) Satter of Brainerd, Vea Black of Coon Rapids, and Edgar (Hyon) Gustafson of Staples, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; niece, Theresa Hynes; aunt, Hilda Gustafson; and brother in law, Robert Black.
