Gail Ann Van Brunt, age 69, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021 in her beloved home on Rice Lake. Gail was born on November 9, 1951, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Corwin and Helen Van Brunt. Gail grew up on her family farm in Truman, Minnesota, and graduated from Truman High School. She was crowned Future Farmers of America Queen while living in Truman, MN. Gail was the first woman to graduate from Bemidji State University earning a BA in Mass Communication. She went on to work for the newspaper, radio and as a Community Education Director for the Pine River Schools. Gail had a passion for yoga and taught in the lakes area for many years. The true meaning and joy in her life came from her three beautiful granddaughters. Gail was a witty, free spirit who touched the lives of many with her humor and strength. If she was here now, she would remind us all to “Have adventures everywhere”.
Gail was preceded in death by her father, Corwin Van Brunt. She is survived by her mother, Helen Van Brunt; brother, Reid Van Brunt (Barb); children, Gina Heyer (Chad) and Shelby Medved; former husband, Thomas Medved; granddaughters: Lily Medved-Charpentier, Layla Heyer, Eve Heyer; and many friends, nieces and nephews all of whom she loved.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
