Gail Schultz

1952 — January 1, 2022

Gail Marie Schultz passed from this world on February 13, 2022, after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She was born in 1952 in Minneapolis, MN, to Loyle and Lola Butcher. The Butcher family moved to Pequot Lakes shortly thereafter and bought Echo Bay Resort on the Whitefish Chain. Gail had many good memories growing up on the resort with her sisters, Rene and Karen, and her brother, Chuck. In 1970 she graduated high school and started working at Lakeland State Bank. While working at the bank she was reacquainted with Larry Schultz, who would become her husband in 1972. The first time she met Larry was years before when they rode the same school bus, but as he was seven years older than her, neither of them had a clue that they would eventually share 46 years of marriage!

Shortly after their wedding, Gail and Larry moved to Tip Top Resort, which was owned and operated by the Schultz’s. They lived there for many years, always being happy to lend a hand or chat with the resort guests. Through the resort, they made many life-long friendships, and it was here that they raised their children, Aaron and Jennifer.

Gail was always good with numbers and had a great eye for detail. When she wasn’t busy at the resort, she did bookkeeping for Silbaugh’s Department Store in Pine River, and later for Larry and Aaron’s construction company Tip Top Building and Remodeling.

In her free time, Gail loved to sew. She sewed both her and her sister Rene’s wedding dresses, and many dresses for her daughter, from baby clothes to prom dresses. She was an avid gardener and in the summer months could often be found weeding her flower beds. Gail loved to travel and see new places, but also loved her home on the Whitefish Chain. She was a welcoming host and loved to gather her family and friends. She will be remembered as a thoughtful sister, a devoted mother, and a wonderful friend.

Gail will be dearly missed by her children, Aaron and Jennifer; her siblings: Rene (Cal) Morrisette, Karen (Al) Lebrun and Chuck (Vonnie) Butcher; and her many friends and neighbors. She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents and her husband of 46 years, Larry.

There will be a memorial service at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes on Saturday, February 26 at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 10:00 am. A short luncheon will follow.

Memorials may be sent to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 126, Pequot Lakes, MN 56472.
