F.W. Hoemberg

October 21, 1925 — January 20, 2009

F. W. FritzHoemberg, 83, of Staples, passed away Tuesday evening, January 20, at his home in Staples. Memorial Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, Jan. 24 at Faith Lutheran Church in Staples with Pastor Steve Sveom officiating. Visitation will be Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples and also for one hour prior to Services at the Church on Saturday.

F.W. FritzHoemberg was born on October 21, 1925, in Hibbing, MN, the son of Fred and Kathryn (Scruppie) Hoemberg. He moved to Staples with his parents at an early age. He entered the U.S. Army during WWII and served his country as a Sergeant with the Combat and Engineering Division in Rhineland in the Central European Theater. On August 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Rose in Staples, MN, to this union 3 children, Judy, Jerry, and Janet were born. They were able to share over 61 years of marriage together. He worked for the Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad as a brakeman and conductor for 43 years. Among the things he enjoyed doing were Search-a-Word puzzles, listening to Polka music, auction sales, watching television while sitting in his Lay-Z-Boy chair with his eyes closed, and coffee klatches to visit and reminisce with friends. Fritz was a member of the V.F.W. and the American Legion.

Fritz will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Rose; son, Jerry (Patricia) Hoemberg of El Paso, TX, daughters, Judy (Ron) Hillman of Cambridge, MN, and Janet (Tim) Sanda, of Apple Valley, MN; grandchildren, Rhende Wilton, Devin Hillman, William Hoemberg, and Jeffrey Hoemberg, great grandchildren, Landen Wilton and Elyse Wilton. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Kathryn; step-father, Roscoe Liane; father and mother-in-law, Emanuel and Mathilda Baier; sister, Donna Smith; daughter-in-law Barbara Hoemberg; aunt, Gertrude (Hoemberg) Sjogren and many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
