Freda Ackerson

Freda M. Ackerson, 79, of Pillager, MN passed away Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, MN, surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Freda will be 11:00AM, Saturday, September 20, 2014 at First Lutheran Church in Pillager, MN, with Pastor Hector Merced officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church for visitation one hour prior to services.

Freda was born November 25, 1934 in Pine River, MN to Edmund and Gertrude (Berndt) Allen. She grew up in the Pillager area where she lived most of her life. On April 22, 1952 she was united in marriage to Jess Ackerson. They were inseparable for over 50 years of marriage. In this union they had three daughters. She spent most of her years as a homemaker, but she was quick to help her husband with his trapping line and wasn't afraid to get dirty. She also co-owned a grocery store, called A&C Grocery, with her husband Jess, sister Barbara and brother-in-law, Dale Carlson. She enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her grandchildren. She also enjoyed canning, baking, hunting, fishing, card playing and bird watching. Freda was a very loving and caring person who was dedicated to her family and husband.

Freda was loved very much and will be sadly missed by her three daughters, Catherine (John) Knosalla of Staples, MN, Conni (Jerry) Ackerson of Pillager, MN, Caren (Lee) Hines of Randall, MN; six grandchildren; nine and a half great grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Carlson of Pillager, MN, and Diane Killian of Staples, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; and brother, Ferdinand. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
