Fred Hauenstein

Frederick J. Hauenstein, CLU, age 89, of Lakeshore, died Friday, August 2, 2013 at his home. Fred was preceded in death by wife Helen of 63 years, son Mark, granddaughter Nancy, sisters Carol and Margaret. Survived by children Fred (Cathleen), Sandie (Ric), Greg(Gina), Jeanne(Matt), Mary and sister Joanne, 17 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Passed away peacefully at his home on Gull Lake. Formerly of Eagan, Fred was a life insurance agent with The Phoenix Companies for 47 years before retiring to their dream lake home, where he and Helen entertained and enjoyed many friends, family and relatives over the span of 50 years. He especially enjoyed the many birds and wildlife of lake living. A proud veteran of WWII, member of the American Legion, the Knights of Columbus, and the Republican Party. Fred was a leader in numerous businesses, civic and religious organizations during his life. He had a deep trust & love of God that he lived by example. His loving family was his greatest blessing. True to his convictions and opinions, he always listened and appreciated the diverse conversations and debates with his children and grandchildren. Fred and Helen never ceased to love, encourage and support the numerous endeavors of their family.
Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM, Tuesday August 6th, 2013 at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Nisswa MN. Visitation will be held Beginning at 9:30AM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Christopher's Catholic Church in Nisswa, MN.
