Francine Laske

October 9, 1939 — August 31, 2020

Francine “Fran” Laske, 80, of Nevis and formerly of Moorhead died peacefully surrounded by her family on August 31, 2020.

Born on October 9th, 1939 to Al and Marion Elenbogen in Chicago, Ill.  Fran grew up in the Logan Square neighborhood along with her sister Evelyn.  After High School she attend Wright Jr. College in Chicago and Moorhead State University earning her Master’s Degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota.

In 1963 Fran married Lyle Laske, her Husband over more than 56 years, and they moved to Moorhead, MN where they became the proud parents of twins Letitia and Andrew in 1966.  Fran worked for the Moorhead School District first at Georgetown Elementary and then became the Librarian at Moorhead Sr. High School.  Eventually she took on the role as Director of the Media Resource Center for the School District until retiring to lake life with Lyle in Nevis, MN.

She was passionate about spending time with her family and enjoyed horseback riding, reading books, basket weaving and kayaking at the family lake home. Fran had many travels with friends and family and enjoyed learning about other cultures on her journeys.  She became a Grandmother in 2003 and cherished spending time with her Grand Daughter Katie.

Fran is survived by her husband: Lyle Laske; daughter: Letitia Laske; son: Andrew (Brigid) Laske; granddaughter: Katherine Laske; and sister: Evelyn (Sid) Hostetter.

Fran’s battle with Alzheimer’s Disease is over and now she is at peace.  Her Family would like to thank the staff at Northern Lakes Senior Living and Knute Nelson Hospice Care.

A Memorial to celebrate Fran’s life will be held at a later date to be determined.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, Headwater's Animal Rescue in Park Rapids or Kinship in Park Rapids.
