Frances Motl, age 95, of Staples passed away Friday, September 2, 2016 at St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, September 10, at 11 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Visitation will be Saturday from 9 AM until 10:45 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Interment will follow the service, at Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Frances Marie Kasper was born March 10, 1921 in Swanville. As a child, she moved with her family to Philbrook. When she grew up, she worked as a housekeeper. She was married to Harold Motl in Wadena on May 17, 1940. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Moran Township until 1979, when they sold the farm and moved to Villard Township, in the Staples area. Harold passed away in January of 2003. Frances moved to Clarissa in 2012. Family was most important to Frances. An excellent cook, she volunteered at the food pantry for many years. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, and loved her flowers and her garden. She never missed her daily chores while she and Harold farmed, or her daily walk in later years.
Frances is survived by three children, Duane, of Clarissa, Darlene (Bill) Bowers, of Midlothian, VA, and Ron (Linda), of Milnor, ND; nine grandchildren, Pam Motl, of Long Prairie, Jason, of Parkers Prairie, Kieve (Cheryl), of Sauk Rapids, Jodi Bowers, of Midlothian, VA, Lori Bowers, of Midlothian, VA, Allen Motl, of Fargo, ND, Sandy (Jared) Hoff, of Jamestown, ND, Ryan (Trisha) Motl, of Lake St. Louis, MO, and Terry (Dena) Motl, of Jamestown, ND; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; her sisters, Loretta Hoemberg and Florence Avery; and many nieces and nephews. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, a great-grandson, Dustin Korfe, and thirteen brothers and sisters.
