Florence Tyrrell, age 90, of Staples, passed away at the Lakewood Health System Hospital on Friday, July 17. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 20, at 11:00 AM at the Staples Church of Christ with Pastor Barry Klein officiating. Visitations will be held on Sunday evening from 4-6 at the church and on Monday morning starting at 10:00. Burial will be in the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.
Florence was born on January 24, 1919, in Turtle Lake Township, to Rudolf and Esther (Nafe) Suchentrunk. She attended country school and graduated from Staples High School. On July 31, 1938 she married Ray Tyrrell in Wadena. They went to live in El Paso, Texas. In 1942 Ray and Florence moved back to Minnesota, and then bought a farm in 1944. In 1980 they moved to Staples, where Ray passed away in 1982. Florence was active in her church, a 4H leader, and belonged to Bible Studies and Friendly Four Corners Homemakers group. She also enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, canning, and loved spending time with her family at Turtle Lake.
Florence is survived by her sons, Stanley (Jan) of Staples, David (Marilyn) of Baxter, Robert of Browerville, and Conrad (Kathy Jean) of Browerville; 11 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; her parents; and an infant granddaughter.
Memorials are preferred to the Pine Haven Bible Camp.
