Fern L. Weyand, 93, a resident of Scandia Valley Township, Lincoln, died Friday (3/30/12) at Lakewood Hospital in Staples. Services will be Tuesday 11 AM at Lincoln Evangelical Free Church in Lincoln with Rev. David Wold and Rev. Jim Brown officiating, burial will be 11 AM Wednesday at Elmhurst Cemetery in St. Paul. The relatives will receive friends starting at 9 AM on Tuesday at the church.
Fern Weyand is survived by her son, Alphonse (Jacqueline) Weyand of Hastings; sister, Irene Kimmel; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great -grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Alphonse (1987); daughter, Fern (2007); grandson, Troy; three brothers and three sisters.
Fern was born on June 10, 1918 in Iowa, daughter of the late; Otto and Josephine Dreher. She moved to the Lincoln area with her parents at the age of 3. The family moved to Lake Bronson where she was raised on a farm. She was united in marriage to; Alphonse Weyand on October 12, 1936 in Hallock, MN. They lived in St. Paul, then California. They returned to St. Paul where she worked at Gould Battery for many years. She retired to Lake Alexander then later to St. Paul and lived with her daughter Fern. Following Fern's death, she moved back to Lake Alexander and lived with her grandson Ben and wife Jaurone Richards the past 4 years till the time of her death. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, playing cards, gardening, the outdoors and visiting with friends. Memorials are preferred.
