Fern Eveland of Pine River passed into the presence of Jesus on November 30, 2019, in Roseville, MN, two weeks after celebrating her 90th birthday with her family. She was born to Lorie and Lillian Peterson on November 12, 1929. She met her husband, Bert Eveland, while working at W. T. Grants in Minneapolis and they were married in 1948. Over the years, they lived in Minneapolis, Backus, Motley and Eagan, returning to Backus to retire in 1988. They raised two daughters, Tammi Hall and LaRae LaTourelle. Fern was an avid gardener, cook and seamstress. She had the gift of hospitality and a servant heart. She and Bert spent endless hours volunteering in their community and in churches they attended. They regularly opened their home to friends, families and many missionaries.
Fern is survived by her daughters: LaRae (Tim) LaTourelle, Tammi (Bob) Hall; grandchildren: Brandon (Aileen) LaTourelle, Emily LaTourelle, Natalie Hall; great grandchildren: Avery and Camden LaTourelle. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert and her parents, Lorie and Lillian Peterson.
Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, December 5, at Lakeside Baptist Church, Backus. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Backus. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Arrangements are with Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
