Faye Irene Stevens, 90, of Motley, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 13, 2024, at the Lakewood Care Center. Services will be held at 11am on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the United Methodist Church in Motley with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Faye was born on September 14, 1933, in Grant County Minnesota to Laverne and Pauline (Cave) Jenkins. She married Jerry Stevens on April 23, 1952, and made their home in Thief River Falls. Throughout the years while raising their family they also lived in Brainerd, East Grand Forks, Red Wing then settling in Motley where they owned and operated The Hitchin Post Grill and Tavern. You could find Faye playing Randy Travis music on the jukebox and two-stepping around pool tables with her grandkids.
Faye had a knack for writing beautiful poetry and she proudly wrote poems for her family, making sure that each one was specially tailored to them from her. She received several awards for her poetry and her thoughtfully scripted words can be found in her poem book, “with love, mom.” She enjoyed crocheting, fishing at Lake Shamineau with friends and family, playing the piano, guitar and accordion, and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. She was a friend to many, a second mom to several, and will be missed by all who knew her.
Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; sons, Mark, and Mitch; parents; siblings; and daughter-in-law, Sheila. She is survived by her children, Mike, Michelle (Owen) Judge, daughter-in-law, Deb Stevens, brother-in-law Jerry Sharon; ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and four great, great-grandchildren.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
