Reverend Alvin John Quade was born on October 8, 1927 in Beach, North Dakota. He was the son of John and Theresia Kahl Quade. Father Quade attended District 13 Grade School, Saint Philip, Montana, and Saint Michael's School, Buckman, MN, Saint John's Preparatory, Saint John's University, and Saint John's Seminary, Collegeville, MN. Father Quade was ordained by The Most Reverend Peter W. Bartholome at Saint Mary's Cathedral, Saint Cloud, MN on May 1, 1954. He celebrated his First Mass in Saint Michael's Church, Buckman, MN on June 6, 1954,
Father Quade served in the following pastoral assignments in the Diocese of Saint Cloud: associate pastor, St. Paul, Sauk Centre, July 1954 - December 1954; St. Ann, Wadena, December 1954 - June 1955; Sacred Heart, Staples, June 1955 - August 1957; pastor: St. Isidore, Moran, St. James, Philbrook, August 1957 - August 1960; St. Mary, Upsala, August 1960 - July 1966; St. Nicholas, St. Nicholas, July 1966 - July 1974; St. John, Foley, July 1974 - June 1983; St. Mary, Little Falls, June 1983 - October 1988, Holy Cross, Harding, October 1988 - July 1993; St. James, Randall, July 1993 - July 2001. Father Quade retired July 2, 2001.
Father Quade served as Dean of the Foley Deanery from 1974 until 1976 and Dean of the Little Falls Deanery from 1985 until 1988. He was also active in the Charismatic Renewal.
Father Quade died on October 12, 2014 at Amazing Days Elderly Care Center in Randall. Family and friends are welcome to gather from 3-8 PM on Thursday evening with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. at the Church of Saint Michael, Buckman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of Saint Michael, Buckman on October 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Donald Kettler presiding. Burial will be in the Church of Saint Michael Cemetery, Buckman.
Father Quade is survived by his brother, Ralph. He was preceded in death by his parents.
