Evelyn Nogle

Evelyn "Evie" Martha (Olson) Nogle, died August 27, 2016 at Birchwood Samaritan House in Brainerd. She was born July 5, 1925, in Minneapolis, to Elmer and Eva (Samson) Olson. As a young girl she loved to attend band concerts and community sings at Fowell Park across the street from her home in North Minneapolis. She graduated from Vocational High School and began working at the JC Penney Company. Her love of music led her to study vocal music at McPhail School of Music and for several years she sang in the Minnesota Opera Chorus. She used her musical talents to sing in the community chorus and at many weddings, funerals and Memorial Day services. At the Union Congregational Church she sang in choir and directed children's and youth choirs. Gardening was another activity she enjoyed. She was proud to have enlisted in the US Navy just prior to the end of WWII. In 1946, she married Charles Nogle and moved to Elk River, MN. Together they raised two girls. After working 33 years, she retired and was appreciated for excellent and loyal service to the First National Bank in Elk River. She then moved to Brainerd to be closer to her older daughter and grandchildren.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer Jonas and Eva Christina (Samson) Olson and her husband, Charles Henry Nogle. She survived by her children and their spouses, Marty and Julie (Nogle) Anderson, of Brainerd and Jack and Janis (Nogle) Baethke, of Harlington, TX; granddaughters, Tonia (Baethke) and Nick Anderson, of Zimmermann, Kristi (Baethke) and Troy Keeler, of Zimmermann, Katrina (Anderson) and Joseph Zimmermann, of Wausau, WI, and Kelda Anderson, of Bellevue, WA; and four great-grandchildren, Emily Anderson, August Zimmermann, Amelia Zimmermann, and Henry Zimmermann.

Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, September 2, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
