Evelyn Jones, age 98, of Hackensack, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2012, at her home. She was born to Joseph and Anna Safer on January 1, 1914, in Holdingford, MN. Evelyn was raised by parents who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia, attended a one-room elementary school and then high school in the Upsala, MN, area. She married Walter "Buck" Jones and they lived in New London, Connecticut, and had two children, Thomas Anton and Gracee Anne. In 1949, they moved to the Hackensack area where they managed the KeeNeeMooSha Resort on Woman Lake for 22 years before retiring to the home they built on 80 acres overlooking Baby Lake.
Evelyn was a member of Union Congregational Church and Women's Fellowship in Hackensack, was a lifetime member of VFW Auxiliary 772 of Longville, American Legion Post 202 of Hackensack, and was the secretary of the Book & Thimble Club of Woman Lake and Hackensack. She also wrote a column "Woman Lake News" that appeared in the Walker Pilot for many years.
Evelyn leaves behind many loving family members, including daughter, Gracee Rudkin; stepson, Donald Jones; grandchildren: Julie Boyce, Michael Rudkin, Brad Rudkin, Rene` Lafflam, Tanya Plonka, Brian Jones; ten great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter "Buck" Jones; son, Thomas Jones; stepson, Allen Jones; both parents; three brothers and one sister.
Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, December 29, at Union Congregational Church, Hackensack, with Pastor Michael Small officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
