Evelyn M. Christopherson, age 82, of Staples, passed away this Monday 16, 2010 at Tri-County Hospital in Wadena. A funeral service is planned for Friday, August 20, at 10:00 AM, at the Staples Christian and Missionary Alliance Church. The visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Thomastown Cemetery.
Evelyn was born on May 21, 1928, in Thomastown Township, to Adolph and Matilda (Larson) Edin. She grew up in the area and attended school there. After completing two years of teacher training, Evelyn taught at the Nimrod School for a few years. She married Lewis Christopherson on August 5, 1950, at the Thomastown Covenant Church. After teaching, she stayed home to raise her children and help Lewis on the farm. Evelyn was very active in her church, teaching Sunday School at the Thomastown and Alliance Churches, playing piano for the Thomastown Church, and held every position in the Woman's group. She raised chickens to sell the eggs and loved to garden. She loved to bake, sew, and quilt. Evelyn enjoyed doing puzzles and playing board games with her family.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Alan (Roxie Bartell), Kent (Deb Toedter), Curt (Pam Anderson), Beth (Art) Bergquist, 14 grandchildren: Tanya (Mark) Fleming, JJ.(Bridie), and Nathan Christopherson, Ben (Sheena) and Megan Christopherson, Shera, Blake (Cristy), Kyle, Ryan, and Aimee Christopherson, Kaity, Sarah, Stenson, and Bryson Bergquist, 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth (Thelma) Edin, Margery (Jack) Eyres, and Patricia (Gaylord) Fries; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Arrangements are pending with Brenny Funeral Chapel of Staples.
