Evangeline Kaspar, 90, of Brainerd, died Sunday, January 4 at Woodland Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, January 8 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter with Reverend Chris Meier officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Evangeline was born October 28, 1913 to Peter and Margaret (Siblerud) Ackland in Albert Lea. She grew up on a farm nearby. She graduated from Proviso High School in Proviso, IL. In 1934, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kaspar in Chicago, IL. They moved to Nisswa in 1951. Together they owned and operated Nisswa Lakeside Resort until 1992. In 1997, she moved to the Woodland Good Samaritan Village. Before Joseph?s death in 1999, they celebrated 65 years of marriage. Evangeline was a charter member of the Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa. She was also a member of the Nisswa Garden Club, Nisswa Women?s Club and a Nisswa Lioness. She loved gardening, fishing, and boating. She was devoted to her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Evangeline is survived by daughter Claudia Wohl, of Merrifield; son Douglas Kaspar of Lake Shore; sister Clarissa Harvey of Albert Lea; 9 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Her husband, parents, three brothers, and three sisters preceded her in death.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Chapel of Baxter.
