Eugene Steward

Eugene R. "Gene" Steward, age 78, of Bloomington, formerly Crosslake, MN, and Burt, IA, passed away February 8, 2013 due to complications from Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia. Preceded in death by parents; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survived by wife of 52 years, Wilma; children: David (Jill), Dwight (Stacey), Neal (Lisa), Paul (Jenny); 12 grandchildren; siblings: Doretta Abbas, Karen Bringman, Roger Steward, Perry Steward, Gary Abbas; many relatives and friends.

Gene served in the US Navy during the Korean War achieving the rank of Petty Class First Officer with 4 years of service. He went on to earn a BS in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University and then began his 30 year career at UNISYS in Roseville, MN. During that time he also earned and MBA degree from the University of Minnesota and rose to the level of Director of their Large-Scale Computer Development Group.

Memorials preferred to U of M Medical Foundation for Research for the study of Parkinson's and Lewy Body Dementia (Due to severe allergies, please do not send flowers).

Service will be 11AM on Thursday, February 14 at Hillcrest Methodist Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be one hour prior. Private interment at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Arrangements with Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, MN.
