Eugene Majka

Eugene "Gene" Majka, 86, of East Gull Lake, passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 23, 2011. Mass of Christian Burial is planned for 1:00 PM, Friday, March 25, 2011 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd. Family and friends are invited to gather at the Brenny Funeral Chapel Reception Room following services at the church.

Gene was born August 10, 1924, in Detroit, MI, the son of Raymond and Theresa (Andrzejewski) Majka. After high school, he was united in marriage to Betty Watson at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Lincoln Park, MI on April 10, 1948. Gene was proud of the work he accomplished at McGraw Hill where he was employed as a Sales Manager for over 45 years. The family lived in Michigan, Chicago and Minneapolis before making Plymouth home. When he retired, Gene and Betty moved to East Gull Lake. He enjoyed all sports. Early in his life, Gene liked curling; later, he enjoyed a round of golf.

He will be missed by his wife, Betty; sons, John (Laurie), of Nisswa, Paul (Christine), of Carver, and Matt (Kym), of Wayzata; daughter, Mary (John) Steffens, of Plymouth; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Joan Majka, of Dearborn Heights, MI and Patricia (Andy) Andre, of Canton, MI. He was preceded in death by his parents.
