Eugene Drum

Eugene (Gene) E. Drum, 87, of Longville died on Friday, April 20, 2012 at the Grand Itasca Hospital in Grand Rapids, MN. A Memorial Service for Gene will be held on Saturday, June 9th 2012 at Salem Lutheran Church in Longville, MN at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bob Ally officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Military Honors will be provided by VFW Post 772. Private burial at a later date.

Gene was born on March 24, 1925 in Ladysmith, WI to Walter and Christine (Johnson) Drum. He enlisted in the United States Marines in 1942 to 1947 serving our country in WWII in the Pacific Theatre and China. Gene married Nita (Toni) on September 14, 1965 in Des Moines, IA. He worked for Super Value and retired in March 1982 before moving to their home in Longville, MN. Gene was a member of the the Geo R. Wolf VFW Post 425 in Hopkins, MN since 1949 and transferred to the Sherman A. Yochum VFW Post 772 in 1982. Gene was also a member of the Chanhassen American Legion since 1975.
He loved the outdoors, hunting, and fishing. Gene also loved stacking firewood and mowing the lawn.

Gene is survived by his wife, Nita (Toni); daughter, Cynthia of California; step-son, Dana (Jeanne) Breska; step-daughter, Darla (Paul) Hanson; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel of Pequot Lakes, MN.
