Etta Flicek

Etta (Galland) Flicek, 86, of Baxter, died at her home Thursday, May 24, 2012. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with Father Tony Wroblewski officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather Monday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday. Private Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.

Etta Belle was born October 28, 1925, in Eveleth, MN, the daughter of Roy and Ida (Mitchell, McLaughlin) Galland. She was united in marriage to Raymond Eugene Flicek July 31, 1943 in Killeen, TX. For 20 years, Etta worked as the head cook at the Anoka Hennepin School District. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and VFW Post 1647 Auxiliary.

She will be missed by her husband, Ray; children, Sandra Brakstad, of St. Cloud, Jeffrey (Therese) Flicek, of St. Louis Park and Mitchell (Mary) Flicek, of Ogilvie; grandchildren, Michael (Lisa) Leiner, Matthew (Carrie) Leiner, Martin (Candice) Flicek, and Emily (Eric) Barthel; step-grandchildren, Jessica Erickson, Aaron Fitzpatrick, and Adam (Jessie) Fitzpatrick; great-granchildren, Alexa Leiner, Iszic Flicek, Hunter Flicek, Grace Flicek, Ethan Barthel, and Erin Barthel; and cousin, Wilson (Clara) Galland, of Mentor, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; uncle, Roy Mitchell; aunt, Nellie Mitchell; brother, Mervin Galland; sister, Grace Wallace; granddaughter, Jennifer (Flicek) Krob; half-brother, Guy McLaughlin; and half-sister, Dorothy Galland Haugen.
