Ethel Marie Dezell, 88, of Staples MN died Sunday, May 12, 2019 at Lakewood Care Center in Staples. Funeral Services will be at 11AM on Friday, May 17, 2019 at Staples United Methodist Church with a visitation one hour prior to services all at the church. Rev. Greg Leslie will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples, MN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Family Funeral Chapel, Staples.
Ethel was born on November 26, 1930 to Daniel and Ruth (Grauman) Reineke in Clarissa, MN. On March 10, 1950 she was united in marriage to Gerald Benjamin Dezell of Staples. The couple was blessed with four sons; and Ethel loved sitting back and listening to her boys reminisce and talk about life events. She taught her sons, when things get tough you grit your teeth and struggle through it. Ethel was employed by various businesses throughout her working career including; Coast to Coast, City Hall, Ringer Plant, over 20 years at Batcher’s Department Store; until her retirement from Ernie’s Grocery Store. Ethel and Gerald also owned and operated HiWay Lanes Bowling Alley, where she bowled her perfect 300 game!
Ethel was a member of Staples United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir for many years. Over the years she enjoyed playing softball, square dancing, traveling with bus tours to the casino, putting together puzzles, playing cards and actively supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their various activities. Ethel was caring, loving, regel, tough and loved her entire family beyond words. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ethel is survived by her four sons, Gary (Florance) of Casa Grande, AZ, Craig (Janell) of Annandale, Kevin (Jeannie) of Staples, Michael (Gina) of Sartell; she was extremely proud of her 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Ethel is also survived by her sisters, Marge Pinewski of Anoka, Alice (Lee) Grams of Lowell AS; brother, Duane (Winn) Reinke of Northridge CA; sisters-in-law, Priscilla Reineke of Alexandria, LuJean (Mark) Ruel of Osseo; brother-in-law, Fred Huebner of Staples.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; brother, Tom Reineke; sisters-in-law, Norma Jean Anderson, Karen Huebner; brothers-in-law, Phil Pinewski, Gordon Anderson, and Gordon Dezell.
