Esther Uecker

Esther Uecker, 80, of Backus, passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. Esther Vause was born April 16, 1931 in Bladen County, North Carolina to Haynes and Littie (Carter) Vause. She attended beauty school in Charlotte and married William Uecker June 22, 1952. In 1971, they moved to Backus where they lived and raised cattle.

Esther enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and traveling.

Esther is survived by her daughter, Janice (Del Norwood) Sorenson; granddaughter, Lisa (Adam) Koons; grandson, Cody Sorenson; great-grandchildren, Zackary, Marshall, Brock, Shakota and Donovan; sister, Lou Lilly Gooden; brothers, Junior, Clayton, and Eddie James Vause; several nieces and nephews; her dogs, Sadie and Shelly and cat, Prissy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; two brothers; a sister; and her close friend, Frank Paul.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Kline Funeral Home in Pine River. Interment will be in Camp Ripley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and one hour prior to the service all at the Kline Funeral Home.
