Esther Pfaff

January 26, 1930 — February 20, 2014

Esther Pauline Pfaff, 84, of Grey Eagle, passed away peacefully at Sauk Centre Hospital on February 20, 2014, after a battle with cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 22 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Grey Eagle. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church Friday evening from 4-8 M and one hour prior to services on Saturday. Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veteran's Cemetery near Camp Ripley at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 24, 2014.

Esther was born January 26, 1930, in Flensburg, the daughter of Steve and Pauline (Kedrowski) Yanta. Following her marriage to Glen Pfaff on October 24, 1953, the couple made their home in Columbia Heights before purchasing a farm in Stanchfield and later a Resort in Isle. They also owned a liquor store in Nelson, WI. In addition to help run the family business, Esther worked at the Brainerd Hospital, St. Cloud Hospital, Munsingwear, and Sunshine Biscuit. The couple enjoyed heading south for the winters; spending time in Arizona, Texas, and Florida. In 1989, the purchased a home in Alamo, TX and the following year they bought a home on Swan Lake. They were able to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary this past October. Esther was a spirited, devout Christian who cared deeply for her family and friends. She loved music, traveling, playing cards and going to the casino. She also liked to cook and bake for her family.

She will be missed by many and is survived by her husband, Glen; children, Nancy (John) Woods, of Richmond, Mark, of Isle and Paul (Cynthia), of Isle; grandchildren, Christa, Jessica, Colt, Nicholas, and Steffan; great-grandchildren, Neveah, Tyler, Peyton, Colten, Carter, and Tenley; and brother, Clarence Yanta. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Joy; parents, Steve and Pauline; and brothers, Henry, Richard, and Frank.
