Erwin Seefeldt

August 13, 1927 — January 29, 2011

Erwin "Erbe" Seefeldt, 83, rural Motley, died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Lakewood Health System Hospital in Staples. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 3, 2011at 10:30 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Staples with Rev. Robin Collins officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples.

Erbe Seefeldt was born on August 13, 1927 near Bridgman, MI, son of Herman and Martha (Essig) Seefeldt. He moved at an early age with his parents to South Dakota before settling in rural Staples. He enlisted in the US Army. Following his honorable discharge he worked on various jobs until studying to become an electrician which he was very proud of. He was united in marriage to Eva Jaglo Qualen on May 11, 1968. He worked as an electrician, mainly on large construction projects, most of his professional career. They retired in 1990 and returned to the Staples area where he's been a resident till his death. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW) # 292, and past member of the VFW. He enjoyed carving and woodworking, restoring tractors, always inventing something, gardening, bird watching, hunting and fishing.

Erbe is survived by sister, Marjorie Seefeldt, of Mpls; two nephews, Kevin (Brenda) Seefeldt, of Verndale and Steven (Camille) Seefeldt, of Staples; stepsons, Larry Qualen, of Mpls and Mick (Jeanne) Qualen, of Nisswa; grandchildren, Amy Jensen, Mike Qualen, Jennifer Ciriza, Chris Qualen, and Ann Peterson; great nephews, Hunter and Logan Seefeldt; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Eva Qualen; brother; LeRoy "Corky"; and two half brothers, Fred and Kenny Janz.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples.
