Ernest Heiser, age 80, of Baxter, formerly from Hot Springs Village, Ark. and Littleton, Col. passed away November 18, 2006 at Diamond Willow. Memorial services will be Friday, November 24, 1 pm, at Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd, with Reverend Rory Swenson officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred, to Kairos Prison Ministry of Arkansas or Park United Methodist Church of Brainerd.
Ernest was born June 3, 1926 in Casper, WY, to George and Mary (Amen) Heiser. Ernie served two years in the Navy during WW2; 18 months aboard the destroyer Chauncey in the Pacific. He earned a BS in Geology from the University of Wyoming, and worked as an oil geologist for Amoco (now BP, where he was the company laison for United Way), Wesex, and a private company. He was united in marriage to Violet "Vi" Stroh in Casper on October 7, 1950. He was a member of Park United Methodist Church in Brainerd and a Past-Elder and Deacon at the Presbyterian Church in Colorado. He was a Past-Master of the Masonic Lodge and a member of Pathfinder #42, AF&AM in Casper. He was involved in prison ministry in Colorado from 1983 - 1987 and then with Kairos Prison Ministry in Arkansas from 1993 - 2004.
Ernest is survived by Vi, his bride of 56 years; two sons, Dr. John C. Heiser (Nancy), Grand Rapids, MI, Robert E. Heiser (friend, Mimi), Brainerd; two daughters, Mary K. Baden (Bruce) and Sally J. Campbell (Reed), both of Baxter; twelve grandchildren, John (Amy), Evan, David, and Susan Heiser, Nate and Zach Bollum, Laura and Jamie Baden, and Erica, Macala, Monica, and Corbin Campbell; and one brother, Arthur Heiser, Aurora, CO.
