Erna Munholand

Erna Christina Munholand, 87, of Crosslake, MN passed away on Friday, June 19, 2015 peacefully surrounded by family and friends. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, June 25, at 11:00AM at Immaculate Hearth Catholic Church in Crosslake, MN with a luncheon to follow at Mission of the Cross Lutheran Church in Crosslake, MN. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church. Interment will follow later at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Erna was born on December 15, 1927 in Millwood Township, Stearns County, Minnesota. She grew up and went to school in Melrose, MN. She married George Johnson in 1946 and they had one son, Calvin. She later married Henry Huard in 1953 and they resided first in Cloquet and later in Crosslake, MN. Henry died in 1981. Erna and Robert Munholand were married June 4, 1983 in Crosslake and Erna continued her career as a quality control inspector for Honeywell. Upon their respective retirements, they moved from the Twin Cities to Crosslake in 1989. For several years they enjoyed winters in Casa Grande, Arizona, and summers in Crosslake until Erna's health required her and Bob to return to Crosslake permanently in 2013. Erna loved parties and "happy hour" where she always sported a stylish outfit and perfectly coiffed hair. She loved to hear a good story or joke and always seemed to come up with a better one to tell. Family and friends were important to Erna and she made a point of gathering with them often. Erna was loved and cherished by those who knew her.

Erna is survived by husband, Robert; son, Calvin (Teckla) Johnson; grandson, Cory; great-grandson, Cayden; sister, Agnes (Charles) Talbott; brother, Raymond Klosner; sisters-in-law, Marie and Theresa; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Elizabeth (Martens); brothers, John (Jack), Lawrence, Francis, and Paul; sisters, Laura Terwey, Rose Korte, Marie Fox, Elizabeth (Libby) Terwey, and Alvera (Vera) Koch. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Crosslake, MN.
