Ercil Posey

Ercil Lee Peterson Posey, age 87, passed away October 11, 2021, at her home. She was the daughter of Herman and Lela (Basore) Peterson born August 5, 1934 in Pine River. Ercil worked for many years in food service at a school district in Iowa and numerous restaurants, including owning her restaurant in Nisswa. After a short retirement she returned to work at the Pine River Legion for almost 17 years performing numerous duties in their gambling functions. She had many hobbies and interests such as sewing, crocheting, knitting, gardening, baking, hunting, fishing and raising farm animals. Even after her diagnosis, Ercil continued sharing her talents and generosity towards others while undergoing her cancer treatments.

Ercil was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Clyde E. Renn, Grant Wynn; daughter, Wanda Renn Seleys; son, Justin Renn; sisters: Lorraine, Irene “Punky”, Ardith, Marlene, Doreen; brother, Robert; sons-in-law, Clarence “Bud” Hines and Richard “Pinky” Payne. She is survived by her children: Linda Hines of Brainerd, Clyde (Linda) Renn of Vinton, Iowa, Carrie Payne of Baxter, Judy (Norman) Primmer of Brainerd, Grant (Cindy) Wynn of Pine River; sister, Sherry Peterson Ellickson of Shakopee; numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be 12 PM on Sunday, October 17, at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Pine River, followed by a Celebration of Life from 1 to 4 PM at the Pine River American Legion.
