Emma Kowalski

April 30, 1921 — October 19, 2006

Emma Kowalski, age 85, of Motley, passed away at her home on Thursday evening. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, October 23, at 11:00, in St. Michaels Catholic Church in Motley with Father Dan Walz officiating. Family will receive friends Sunday Oct. 22, from 3 -6 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, with parish prayers and the rosary at 5:30. Burial will be at the Motley Public Cemetery. Emma was born on April 30, 1921, in Fawn Lake Township to Peter and Lizzy (Mudick) Etzler. She grew up on the family farm with her sister and attended the District 96 School where she graduated from the 8th grade. On February 21, 1950 she was married to Louis Kowalski at the St. Michaels Parish House in Motley. Emma was a dedicated homemaker and raised her four children on their farm near Lincoln. In 1991 she and Louie sold the farm and moved just north of Motley. Emma enjoyed gardening and canning, reading, dancing, and playing cards, quilting, farm life, birds, and collecting rocks from some of her travels. She was a warm caring person who loved hear stories of her grandchildrens antics. After just one conversation with her you couldnt help but become her friend. Emma is survived by her husband, Louie; children, Bonnie Adamek, Bernice (Leon) Weishalla, Marv (Roxann) Kowalski, and Linda (Dave) Bartylla; grandchildren, Steve (Karen) Adamek, Dan (Jennifer) Adamek, Mike (Kristen) Adamek, Julie Adamek, Wanda (Mike) Schull, Cathy (Ed) King, Krista Blanchard, and DJ Blanchard; 9 great-grandchildren; one sister, Francis Craft; and many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law Jerry Adamek; and brothers-in-law, Thomas Craft, Bill Kowalski, and Don Kowalski. Arrangements are entrusted to Brenny Funeral Home of Staples.
