Elvin R. Pohl, 88, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Saturday, May 31, 2008 at his home. Funeral Services for Elvin will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, June 5, 2008 at the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Pequot Lakes. Interment will follow at the Stonybrook (Gloria Dei) Cemetery in Pequot Lakes.
Elvin Richard Pohl was born November 2, 1919, in Cass County, MN, the son of Gustave A. and Olga M. (Musolf) Pohl. He grew up just west of Pequot Lakes and attended school there. Elvin married Viola Spielman and together the couple had a son, Dale. Viola was killed two years after Dales birth in a farming accident. Elvin married Marilyn Long in 1955 and the couple had two children, Patricia and Michael. For most of his life Elvin was a mink rancher. He was a kind and concerned person helping other people in times of trouble. He loved his children and grandchildren enjoying the time they spent together.
Elvin will be missed by his children, Patricia Elaine Rieschl and Michael Elvin Pohl; his grandchildren, Mark E. Rieschl, II, Megan A. Afagwu, Michelle A. Rieschl, Elizabeth Y. Rieschl, Andrew Pohl, Raymond Pohl, and Rebecca Descalzo; and his great-grandchildren, Alexandra Y. Rieschl, Amiee E. Afagwu, Andrew Descalzo, and Anabella Descalzo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Viola; his second wife, Marilyn; his son, Dale; his parents, Gustave and Olga; and his siblings, Dorothy Vargo, Renata Bengston, and Harold Pohl.
