Elna J. "Ducky" Daigle, 79, of Brainerd, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Oakwood Good Samaritan Village. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, August 16, 2010 at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Steve LaFlamme officiating. Friends are welcome to gather Sunday evening from 5-7 PM at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter and one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Interment will be at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Brainerd.
Ducky was born March 26, 1931 in Duluth, MN, the daughter of Gunnar and Gertrude Larka. In 1948, she was united in marriage to Steve Daigle. The couple lived in Virginia, MN before moving to the Brainerd Lakes Area. Ducky went back to school at the age of 43 to earn her LPN degree. She then began working for Woodland Good Samaritan Village where she was employed for over 10 years. She was proud of the Woodland Wildflower Red Hat Society.
Ducky loved her family. She enjoyed cooking holiday dinners, fishing with the kids, camping with the family and making sure they were well taken care of. She was involved in various church groups and was a past-member of the VFW. Ducky was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan.
She will be missed by her husband, Steve; her children, Herb (Jane) Daigle and Stephanie M. Daigle; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Thomas; and brother, Earl Larka.
