Elmer Vorgert

Elmer Vorgert, age 80, of Staples, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on Thursday, June 30. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, July 2, at 11:00 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Staples. Burial was at the Evergreen Hill Cemetery in Staples Minnesota after the service.


Elmer was born on September 25, 1930, to Alfred and Lovina Vorgert, in Wadena, Minnesota. On May 26, 1951, he married Ann Zilka.

Elmer enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, beekeeping, woodworking and playing cards.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Lovina Vorget.

Elmer is survived by his wife Ann, his children, Marilyn Lucht, David (Faye) Vorgert, Christine (Leroy)Barthel, Vicky (Bob) Scheiber, brothers, Leroy (Wanda), Dennis (MaryJo), sister, Pat (Jim) Stroot, eight grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples.
