Elmer Volk, age 79, of Staples, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his home. He was born in Hague, North Dakota, to Romulus and Mary Volk on February 6, 1933. Elmer married Barbara Pollock on December 31, 1955, in Minneapolis. He was an Ansel Township Board supervisor for many years.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, Michael; grandchildren, Jeannie Volk (Chet), Jacob Volk (Jennifer); sisters: Florence Koble, Marlene Cantial (Russell), Viola Schaefbauer (Floyd), Edith Crotty, Lorraine Swendra (Jerry); brothers: Nerius (Lila), Julius, Phil; great grandchildren: Andrew, Benjamin, Tanner, Easton, Mason; and sister-in-law, Delores Volk.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Richard, and brother-in-law, Conrad Koble.
Services will be 2 PM on Saturday, May 5, at First Lutheran Church, Pine River. Burial will be in Bethelehem Cemetery, rural Backus. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 PM at Kline Funeral Home, Pine River.
