Elmer Eckardt

Elmer Eckardt, age 87, of Pequot Lakes, passed away Monday, November 18, 2013, at the Pierz Villa in Pierz, MN. He was born to Charles and Clara Eckardt on April 13, 1926, in Warroad, MN. Elmer was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army. He retired to Pequot Lakes in 1970 and owned the Bradmor Motel in Pequot Lakes and the Cedarwood Motel in Pine River. Elmer also dug graves at several area cemeteries for over 30 years. He loved the outdoors, gardening and his cat named Kitsir.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Maxine; daughter, Nan Lunquist (Frank); sons: Kurt Eckardt, Karl Eckardt (Amy); brother, Alfred Eckardt (Joyce); sister, Evelyn Norrgard (Wayne); grandchildren: Evrett Lunquist (Ruth Chantry), Jinna Dihn (Tony), and Stephanie Eckardt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Chuck, Bob, and Ed.

Services will be 1 PM on Monday, November 25, at Kline Funeral Home, Pequot Lakes, with Pastor Donna Olsen officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Our Savior's Cemetery, Pequot Lakes.
