Elmer ?Bud? Lee Campbell, 71, of Brainerd died Friday, February 21, 2003 at Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. He was born March 29, 1931 in Oelwein Iowa, to Ray and Mildred (Sanders) Campbell. He moved with his family to the Chippewa Lodge Resort near Longville, where he grew up. He graduated from high school in Longville and then attended the Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis for auto mechanics. He worked as an auto mechanic in the metro area until the late 1950?s, when he returned to Longville to help his family with the resort. He was married to Beverly (Kopesky) McDaniel on July 9, 1977, at the resort. He was a member and past-Master of the Walker Masonic Lodge, and was a member of the Brainerd Masonic Lodge. He retired in 1988 and moved to Brainerd in 1999. He was widowed in 2001. He had been a resident of Bethany Good Samaritan Village since November of 2000.
Bud is survived by two daughters Pam (Russ) Bushman of Montrose and Carla (Scott) Stall of Brainerd; a son Doug McDaniel of Fargo, ND; a sister Mary Sayad of Roswell, GA; six grandchildren Logan, Benjamin, Jamie, Madison, Jesse, and Hailee; and three nieces Mary Hale, Nancy Willis, and Lilly Carroll. His parents and his wife preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 26, 10:00 AM, at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village Chapel, with Reverend Lilja Behr officiating. Friends may call of Tuesday, February 25, 5-7:00 PM, at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter, with Masonic Rites at 6:30 PM. Friends may also visit at the Bethany Chapel for one hour prior to the funeral service. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Brainerd.
