Elmer AlBaltes, 78, of Baxter, died at his home Sunday, November 4, 2007. There will be a visitation Tuesday, November 6 from 4-8 PM with Parish Prayers at 6:30 PM and one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 12 PM, Wednesday, November 7 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd with a luncheon following. Interment will be 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 8 at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society, Shoes for Haiti, or the St. Francis of the Lakes School.
Elmer was born March 7, 1929 in Meire Grove, MN, the son of George and Josephine (Meyer) Baltes. He graduated from Melrose High School and enlisted in the US Army. Following his honorable discharge, Elmer was united in marriage to Rita Schiffler in St. Anthony, MN on June 21, 1952. Rita passed away October 11, 1964. Elmer married Carol Deters in West Union, MN on October 28, 1967. Elmer was a State Fire Marshall for many years until his retirement in 1992. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Brainerd American Legion, Post 255. Elmer was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Elmer will be greatly missed by his wife, Carol; his children, Debra Bowser(Robert Marshall), of St. Paul, MN, Mary (Mike) Allison, of Rochester, MN, Randy (Heidi) Baltes, of Sauk Rapids, MN, Terry (Cindy) Baltes, of Baxter, MN, and Kim (Troy) Lanoux, of St. Louis Park, MN; 13 grandchildren; and his brother, Walter (Bernice) Baltes, of Superior, WI. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rita; an infant daughter; his parents; five brothers, Erv, Ralph, Vernie, Virgil, and Danny; and two sisters, Lucille and Alyce.
